The Youth Group has set a lofty goal of raising $5000 to feed 5000 people. In support of World Vision and the 30 Hour Famine they will be holding a car wash/refundable bottle drive in the Church parking lot, 890 Vimy St., on Saturday, April 20th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m..

Please come out and support these young people as they work to support a very worthy cause.

I was intrigued by this image. At first I saw the man face on. I couldn't quite make the transition to seeing him in profile until I wrapped my mind around that idea.

I wonder how often that happens in our lives as individuals and as a congregation. We have always seen things "face on" but then someone else, who has always seen things in profile, challenges us to look at things another way. And we challenge them to see things from our perspective as well. Are we willing to do the work to look at things another way?

I suspect that is largely what happened with Jesus and the people with whom he interacted, Their expectation of God, of a Messiah, was set from one perspective. It was threatening when all they had "known" was seen from a different vantage point. Some responded with love and devotion, although not without difficulty in doing that! Some responded with fear and others with hate.

Some still do.

Today, thanks to David Lose's wonderful daily reflection . . ."In the Meantime", I discovered Eric Whitacre's Virtual choir. If you want to be amazed - check out Lose's site at
http://www.davidlose.net/2013/03/eric-whitacres-virtual-choirs/

or you can try Virtual Choir on YouTube
Whitacre, a composer and conductor, has written several scores which he had 185 people - and then 2,000 people!- sing and record and send to him. These were then compiled to form a choir. At Lose's site you can see a TED talk where he explains how this all came about. ...continue reading "Virtual Choir and their Conductor/Composer as a Metaphor for Christ and the Church"

What happens when you celebrate Palm Sunday on Thursday? Come on over to Christ church at 4:45 on Thursday ( or whenever you get there after that) and find out! You will find lots of young folks having a ball doing crafts and family activities with the adults they bring with them, some games and singing, great food ( yes a whole supper!!), some learning about one of the most important days in our Christian year and a short time of worship. Bring your friends and family - we love to see new folks.
That is 4:45 to 7:00 pm on Thursday - see you there!

Our friends at St. John's have invited us to spend some time together, led by Peggy Morrison and we encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to connect with our Lord in a meaningful way.
And of course, we also encourage you to follow up with that by spending some time in Meditations in our Holy Week "Watch with Jesus for One Hour" experience in Holy Week.

Lots of ways to deepen your faith!

Please let Peggy know at pmorrison6@cogeco.ca if you are attending
See you there!

Hi Folks
Make sure you check out the Algoma Anglican for an informative and well balanced article written by our own Linda Langdon. Well done, Linda!

Linda's article explores the use of technology in our congregation.

We'd love to hear your responses to the article and your thoughts about how we use technology. What works well for you? What doesn't? Can you think of things we could do that would be helpful? How might we do things differently/better?

If you send your comments here christchurchnorthbay@hotmail.com we will forward them to the email list and get a discussion going.Let us know if you are willing for your comments to be posted on this web page, and if you are ?I will cross post to our Facebook page and ?here.

Don't be afraid to "speak" up - your thoughts and impressions are important. And above all we want to make what we are doing work the best way possible for the Kingdom's sake!

Blessings
Rev. Marie

Hi FOlks
This morning I discovered an amazing Lenten resource - if you begin immediately you will be a few days "behind" but that is no matter - just begin at day 1 and follow along.

The retreat will require about 40 minutes a day to complete, so it is a fairly rigourous commitment, but you will be repaid many times over with a depth of new love for God and an awareness of His love for you!

Just go to http://retreats.sacredspace.ie/ and follow the directions. You will receive both written and audio guidance on your computer. The meditations are rooted in Scripture and follow an Ignatian ( ancient and traditional Christian) format
You will be blessed - even if you do only a few days, but warning - you may want to do them all!!

Rev. Marie
