Learning Opportunities (Sept. - June):

  • Mondays, 11-12 , Interdenominational study (Christ Church or online)  Genesis
  • Mondays, 1 - 3, Interdenominational study (Christ Church or online)  The Gospels in Chronological order with a focus on the healing ministry, miracles and parables of Jesus

Socks and Toques Needed:
The North Bay and Area Warming Centre needs knitted or purchased toques and socks. If you need wool, contact May Seguin, as the Warming Centre have a supply on hand.

We would like to continue hosting a Christmas dinner for the NEMEC clients and need volunteers. We especially need someone to coordinate this. Please contact the office at 705-495-4659 if you’re interested. It would be good to continue this important community outreach!



Nov. 2-5: Cursillo Weekend in Sudbury. This is a weekend experience for adult Christians seeking spiritual growth. Activities are focused on worship, personal reflection, fellowship, and study. Open to men and women who have been baptized. See application forms in the narthex or speak with Red Trowsdale.

Nov 4: Gingerbread Tea and Bazaar at St. John’s from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tea Room $5.00, Grandma’s Attic, Baking and Deli, Books and Christmas decorations, Craft Room—knitting and sewing. All welcome.

Nov. 5: St. John's Annual Remembrance Service at 10:30 a.m. Col. Mark Roberts CD, 22 Wing Commander will be the saluting officer, 22 Wing Colour Party will be the official flag bearers supported by the Air Cadets, Sea Cadets, Army Cadets and various participants from area legion branches also in attendance.

Nov. 9: Kairos Blanket Exercise, an interactive learning experience to experience the impact of treaty making, colonization, reconciliation, and gain a deeper understanding of the historical relationship between the Indigenous people and non-indigenous people of Canada.

Nov. 12: Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes due back at Christ Church. As in past years, we have a supply of boxes to be filled for children in developing countries. The children are so pleased to receive a gift especially for them! And to make your shopping a little easier, there are some fillers available on the table in the narthex with the empty boxes. Please help yourself, while quantities last.

Nov 18: Preparatory session for the Deanery Workshop (see below for Nov. 25) from 9:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at St. Brice’s. This session is to help us reflect thoughtfully on our local environment –with whom do we want to share our faith? There is no cost. We strongly encourage attendees to participate in both sessions if possible.

Nov. 19: Food Bank Sunday. Please be generous.

Nov. 25: You are invited you to attend an upcoming Deanery workshop at St. Brice's that will show us how to carry out our Christ Church mission statement "To know Jesus Christ, and, empowered by the Holy Spirit, to make Him known."
The topic is: Sharing Our Faith: How to Reduce our Terror! The workshop will be led by the Rev. Dr. Murray Henderson who is a mentor with the Institute for Evangelism in Toronto.
The day runs from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with lunch provided. There is no cost to participants, although we are invited to make a donation to cover the cost of the lunch.

Nov. 25: Christmas Luncheon and Bazaar at Christ Church from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Lunch $7.00. Bake Table, Crafts, White Elephant Table.

Dec. 17: Christmas Sing-a-long at Christ Church beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Holy Land Pilgrimage 2018 organized by Bishop Stephen Andrews and Rev. Dr. Robert Derrenbacker for April 19-30. They will provide biblical, liturgical and spiritual leadership for the tour group. See poster on shelf by Moreen’s desk for details.
