Learning Opportunities (Sept. - June):

  • Mondays, 11-12 , Interdenominational study (Christ Church or online)  Genesis
  • Mondays, 1 - 3, Interdenominational study (Christ Church or online)  The Gospels in Chronological order with a focus on the healing ministry, miracles and parables of Jesus

Socks and Toques Needed:
The North Bay and Area Warming Centre needs knitted or purchased toques and socks. If you need wool, contact May Seguin, as the Warming Centre have a supply on hand.

Dates:

Sep 8: Annual Ecumenical “Worship by the Bay” gathering. Beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the waterfront.

Sep. 9: Pancake Breakfast at St. Brice’s. 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. All you can eat! $10 for age 12, $5 for ages 5-11, Free under 5, $35 Family of 4.

Sep 9-10: The refugee family St. Brice’s is sponsoring will be arriving. They plan to have a baby shower for Nour (details to follow). If anyone would like to reach out to the Al Hariris family with a greeting, small house-warming gift, etc., that is certainly fine. Contact St. Bice’s for details at 705-474-4005

Sep 11: Monday Bible Study resumes. 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Sep 13: Alpha Course begins St. Brice’s at 6:00 p.m., using the new video series. There will be a break, and resume on Sep 27. We encourage people who want to explore or consider the claims of the Christian faith, or those who would like a review, to join. Please let Moreen know if you plan to attend so they can plan for the initial supper. For more information, please contact St. Brice’s at 705-474-4005.

Sep 17: Food Bank Sunday. Here are some items always in need there: powdered milk, sugar, instant coffee, cereal, soup (except tomato), protein (tuna, salmon, etc.), pasta dry and canned, feminine hygiene products.

Sep 17: Second Annual Golf “Do” for Trillium Anglican Parish. Tee off time is 2:30 sharp at Highview Golf Course in Powassan. Guests welcome. Golf only with cart: $33; golf + dinner: $52 with cart; dinner only: $22. Deadline to register: Sep 1. Call Linda O’Neill at 705-729-9963.

Sep 18: Registration opens for a course from Wycliffe College to mark the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation. It’s called Of Passion, Politics, Power and Protest: Rediscovering the Reformation, a free, 12-week, non-credit, online course that will provide an overview of the Reformation. The course includes videos, notes, audio slides, as well as optional quizzes, discussion forums, and assignments.

The course will run from September 25 to December 15.

Sep 21-22: Conference in Commemoration of the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation Movement (Nord500North) at the Sudbury Holiday Inn on Regent Street. Details at: http://www.trinitysudbury.ca/Nord500North

Sept. 29-Oct. 1: Lay Readers’ Conference on the theme of One Table, One Body: Preparing and Leading Vital Worship. This event will be at Trinity Centre in Sault Ste. Marie. Oct. 20: Spaghetti Supper at Christ Church. Details to come.

Holy Land Pilgrimage 2018 organized by Bishop Stephen Andrews and Rev. Dr. Robert Derrenbacker for April 19-30. They will provide biblical, liturgical and spiritual leadership for the tour group. See poster on shelf by Moreen’s desk for details.
