Our prayer today has a line that struck me as important: \nWe thank you for setting us tasks which demand our best efforts, and for leading us to accomplishments which satisfy and delight us.<\/strong><\/p>\n

How thankful I am for work that matters, for relationships that stretch me and challenge me, and for the \"God-nudges\" that move me out of my comfort zone into the places where I get to be witness to God at work. What \"God-nudges\" are you thankful for today?Friday Devotions:<\/p>\n

Accept, O Lord, our thanks and praise for all you have done for us. We thank you for the splendour of the whole creation, for the beauty of this world, for the wonder of life, and for the mystery of love. We thank you for the blessing of family and friends, and for the loving care which surrounds us on every side. We thank you for setting us tasks which demand our best efforts, and for leading us to accomplishments which satisfy and delight us. We thank you also for those disappointments and failures that lead us to acknowledge our dependence on you alone. Above all, we thank you for your Son Jesus Christ; for the truth of his word and the example of his life; for his steadfast obedience, by which he overcame temptation; for his dying, through which he overcame death; for his rising to life again, in which we are raised to the life of your kingdom. Grant us the gift of your Spirit, that we may know Christ and make him known; and through him, at all times and in all places, may give thanks to you in all things. Amen.<\/p>\n
SCRIPTURE<\/p>\n
?Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into the barns, and yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not more valuable than they???Matthew 6:26-27?<\/em><\/p>\n
CLOSING?PRAYER<\/p>\n
We thank you Father, for all our joy and all our longing. You have given us in this world of beauty and love; you have also given us the ordinary, of provision of the necessary things of daily life. We thank you Father, not only for these things but for the gift of hope, and for all that reminds us of your promise of eternal life; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
